Juliana
Owner, Pet Stylist, Certified Bather with CPPS
Juliana has worked with all kinds of animals in various situations; raising parrots and small pets in a pet store, hotwalking and grooming thoroughbreds at the Woodbine Racetrack and as an ACA in emergency and regular veterinary settings. At 19 she started Toronto’s first bird sitting and grooming company. At 27, Juliana created a dog walking and pet sitting company in Etobicoke, but sold it to a fellow pet lover after two amazing years to follow her wonderful techie partner to Kitchener. The Pooch opened it’s doors in February, on Juliana’s 30th!
When she’s not working, Juliana loves being a mom to her baby girl, riding on her motorcycle and hiking with her two and four legged friends. She is active in rescue and fostering with Potcake Puppy Palace and Wagtime Rescue. Juliana loves fostering feral mama cats and their babies and had over 40 fosters come through her home just in 2020! She shares her home with her partner Graeme, daughter Gabrielle, Gordo the cat, Lily the Maltese Mix and Stitch, a reserve stray from Northern Ontario.
Lee, Salon Manager, Head Groomer
Lee came to Platinum Pooch Salon looking for an exciting and rewarding career change back into pet care, having spent the last 10+ years in the construction industry. Prior to her career in construction, she was the Southern Ontario District Manager for a Canadian pet care company and taught others about small animal, parrot, fish and reptile health and husbandry. Although she has plenty of experience with animals of all kinds, grooming was brand new to her and she came in super eager to learn! After several years of grooming, Lee accepted the Salon Manager position and not long after that became the Head Groomer as well! Lee absolutely loves creative styling like dino spikes or mohawks and adding colourful dye to really personalize grooms.
Lee is a mom who enjoys music, sitting on a patio with friends and passing on her enthusiasm and passion for all animals to her 8 year old son, Xander. Lee also volunteers for two pet rescues and has Rosie the Airedale Terrier x Poodle, who was adopted from Save Me Rescue.
Bethany, Apprentice Groomer
Bethany has been working with animals for the last 10 years and was looking for a new challenge with grooming when she came across our apprentice groomer position. Despite being at it less than a year, Bethany has proven to be a quick learner and very talented! Her passion and love for animals of all sizes has allowed her to work in many different environments including pet boarding, daycare, vet medicine and retail. She uses all her knowledge and skills to provide a gentle, loving form of grooming for your furry friend and Bethany’s pet crew included a big goofy Bernese Mountain Dog, Dudley and two cats, Gilbert and Ricky Martin.
Victoria, Bather
Victoria is a bather and junior groomer who came to us from another small salon where she started volunteering and quickly got hired on as a Bather. While the salon has since closed its doors, Victoria knew she had found her passion! While she has only worked with animals professionally for almost year, she has learned so much in a short time as a bather and eagerly continues to learn and grow her skills. Victoria has been around and loved all types of animals her whole life and always wanted a career working with animals. She loves creating a bond with both our furry friends and pet parents to make the experience as positive as possible for everyone! When she’s not at the salon, Victoria enjoys painting, listening to music with friends and going for road trips.
Melissa, Salon Coordinator
Melissa found her true passion for animals as a bather at a grooming salon in Oakville. When she relocated with her husband to Guelph, she knew that working with animals was a must to keep her soul happy, and Platinum Pooch has been a great fit! With her almost 25 years of customer service experience Melissa greets all of our clients with a smile. During the week you can find Melissa at the front desk answering calls, responding to emails and booking grooming appointments for our clients. She also enjoys being a “personal support human”, giving hugs, cuddles and encouragement to nervous dogs in the salon. In her downtime Melissa loves spending time with family and friends, watching spooky ghost shows and playing fetch with her dogs.
