Home » Album: Building the Salon Album: Building the Salon The location was a coin shop for the better part of the decade and needed a fair amount of updating. With the walls patched up, I'm just about to start painting! First coat is almost done and most of the carpet is up. I've got a lot of blisters at this point! Worth it! 🙂 "Everything the light touches is our kingdom." The walls are looking great and all the old carpeting is up and out! New signage on King St. E and Pandora! Love it! The signage is up! Our wonderful landlord painted a purple stripe to match and installed nice new silver lighting for us! Introducing my incredible partner and best friend Graeme! We learned how to lay flooring together! A few rows done! We're getting into the swing of things! Pun absolutely intended. Stopping for lunch! Croissants and cheese! The beautiful new floors are done!! What an amazing feeling! This guy is so talented! I would have taken my foot off with that saw. Making 'floating' walls keeps our layout flexible. Peekaboo! Have a look at that desk in the background; it gets an amazing makeover! The front area wall is framed! Time for some drywall. Wall 1 just about done! Most of the furnishings and equipment were moved in the night before this. Almost finished the drywall! Took this project on alone and was surprised at how easy it was! The front room is painted and ready for the pegboard to go up and our product to be unloaded! Setting up the grooming stations. The walls need some decoration though! The desk from our old location was too big but this one old thing was left behind by the former tenant. I redecorated it with backsplash tile to suit our decor. All tiled and ready for grout! Love how that desk came together!! I finished with a purple counter top and metal corner protectors. Also, I have room for my big, BIG plant! Two grooming stations set up! We're just about ready to roll! The decals make the space feel like home. The gecko girls moved in! They're enjoying their new set up! Our product is out! We put in a much taller gate this time around to make sure no pups can jump it! The budgie boys moved in! The local OPSCA inspector was very impressed with their set up! Painted a top panel and mounted it on top for more counter space. With some metal corner protectors it looks super smart! So happy with this project! The peg board, products and art is up! Got the tub plumbing installed and all of our shampoos and conditioners ready to go! Welcome to the new salon! We're thrilled to be in the neighbourhood and setting down some roots!
